Once farmland, Pleasant Hill has, over the years, developed into a very nice residential community in which to live and call home

In the mid 40’s,at the end of World War II, what is now city of Pleasant Hill grew into a residential community by providing housing for those returning from service in the Pacific and Europe. In those days entry level starter homes in the Sherman Acres & Gregory Gardens developments could be bought for  $7,999 with only $99 down. Over the years, as more developments grew up in the once farm land, business came to service the residents of the area. In 1961, residents voted to Incorporated, and the City of Pleasant Hill came into being.

Over time, the city continued to grow and in the late 70’s the city fathers developed an extensive long range re-development plan. Today, downtown Pleasant Hill is a result of that far-sighted thinking.

There are several shopping centers in Pleasant Hill, but the crown jewel is the pedestrian friendly shopping area called Downtown Pleasant Hill, with lots of parking, a variety of stores for one to shop in and plenty of restaurants for one to enjoy, many of them new, such as – Jacks Restaurant and Bar, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Original Pancake House, and established old favorites such as Sweet Tomatoes and Yan Can (Cook), Peet’s Coffee and Tea, a Cold Stone Creamery and much more.  There is also a multi-screen movie theater for your entertainment pleasure as well as a large Borders Books.

Besides all of the above, Pleasant Hill offers easy access to the freeway in any direction.  If you haven’t taken a look at what Pleasant Hill offers, do so today.  You will be surprised.  It’s a great town and I’m proud to call it home.
