TODOS SANTOS PLAZA – CONCORD

Concord, the largest city in Contra Costa County with a total population of over 127,000, is only 31 miles east of the financial / business center of San Francisco. Its closeness to San Francisco, the availability of fast transportation to “the city” via BART (Bay Area Rapid Transportation) plus the fact that there are many desirable residential developments have contributed to its growth. In addition, several large employers (B of A, Wells Fargo, and Chevron) and many smaller companies provide employment opportunity for local residents who wish to work where they live.

The original name of the location where Concord developed was called Todos Santos, named by the town founder, Salvio Pacheco. Today, Concord’s defined downtown area is centered around the city block square, Todos Santos Plaza. This area serves as a focal point for many local, year-around around activities, such as the weekly  Farmers Market featuring fresh, locally grown produce, and the weekly evening  outdoor concerts, an occasional local car show and seasonal, children centered celebrations for holidays such as July 4th – where there is a carnival / festival, parade celebration – and other events like   Easter, Halloween, and Christmas. It is truly the place where the community comes together.

The area around Tados Santos Plaza has recently undergone renovation and in addition to its being a center for local business there are now high-density apartments and condominiums taking advantage of this vibrant area close to the plaza and local transportation.

Concord, originally founded by people of Spanish and Mexican heritage, is now truly a multi-cultural city, offering a variety of activities and opportunity for people from many diverse backgrounds to come and live together and learn from one another.

And, Todos Santos Plaza is the place where it all comes together.
